"I've already learnt alot so far, like how to check and register my domain name and where I can do it at an affordable price. Also how to add it into my blog.
I didn't know about the logos and how to make those so I'm glad I learnt that aswell.
I'm ready to start my website now and I'm so excited."

I am sincerely grateful to have been part of such an amazing course. I myself have never even attempted blogging before but I’ve always known I love telling stories and sharing stuff and my insights my people for edification and growth. This course put me in a position to be 100% fit enough to start blogging as a skilled blogger. I love how everything is simplified, such that even beginners like myself are able to follow. Meet Your Teacher
Hi! I’m Heather! I’m an online English teacher and a blogger.
I’m a widow and a mom to Nicholas, who is ten years old. I’ve been blogging for over ten years and am the founder of South African Mom Blogs: bringing mom bloggers and brands together. Over the years I’ve hosted meetups and have Facebook groups to support the local mom bloggers. I also run the #AckermansBYYSAPBAwards which is an opportunity for South African parenting bloggers to showcase their work and win prizes, together with sponsors Ackermans and BabyYumYum.co.za.
I’ve often gotten emails and questions from people over the years asking how to start a blog but I never got around to doing it. I also felt a bit weird doing it because I really don’t consider myself an expert, I’m just a mom who has been doing it a long time and has figured out a few things.
So here it is… finally! Step by step videos on how to set up your WordPress blog from scratch!
Start your WordPress Blog Now!
Don’t wait years to start your dream blog or website. It doesn’t have to be perfect. But you do have to start somewhere. And that somewhere is now!
If, having watched the videos and applied the work, you feel that the course did not help you set up a blog at all, you can have a refund within 30 days.
Yes. The course is structured with videos. All you have to do is watch the videos and follow the instructions. You can always pause or go back again.
This course shows you how to set up a WordPress blog. You can choose any theme that will suit your business and I'll show you how to install the Kadence starter themes. These themes have a huge range accross all sorts of kinds of websites. Remember that all websites and businesses can benefit from having a blog on their website because it is content marketing - it establishes you as an expert in your field.
This is a valid concern as you can nowadays get AI to spurt out a blog post for you. But here is where you set yourself apart from the bots: you add the human, real and emotional element to your posts. You speak from your heart, with passion and honest experience, which is something a robot can't do.
The minimum cost is your hosting and domain name. This is to pay for your spot on the internet (host) and your url (address of your blog). I'll show you how to research different options here, but I work with Hostgator and Domains.co.za.
As an example, at Domains.co.za, I just renewed samomblogs.co.za (domain name) for R90 for the year. I also use them for one of my sites for hosting at R119 per month. There are different options for more sites.
After that, there can be other costs but they can be free as well. I'll show you how to set up a free theme on Kadence but there are paid options as well. I'll also show you how to set up a newsletter/ opt in form for free (you only have to pay if you have more than 1000 subscribers) on MailerLite.
To quote Marianne Williamson:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.
Just remember: your blog post can have a far reaching effect for someone else going through the same thing. You can support others and in turn, they can support you, as you get to know the blogging community.
And if you're really having second thoughts? You can always set it to private or take it down.
